Great excitement yesterday as Father Christmas took time out of his very busy schedule to come and visit us.  He must have parked his sleigh round the corner because there was no sign of it outside the school although we looked and looked.  He found a comfy chair near the Christmas tree in the hall and every child got a present.  Thank you Father Christmas for taking the time to come to visit us!

Well, what a busy and exciting start to the new school year! We have been really busy in Year 1 learning all about ourselves – our bodies, our own history and where we live. We decided to take a walk down to the post box to post some letters that we addressed all on our own. That was fun!

Towards the end of this half term we were lucky enough to visit Brocks Hill. We went on a nature walk and collected a variety of items such as conkers, leaves, berries, pine cones and even some apples.

Preparing for our assembly was great fun as well. It was all about people in our local area who help us. Everyone really enjoyed our assembly, especially our wonderful parents that came to watch.

We cannot wait for the next half term, where more exciting learning awaits. See you all soon!

We were so lucky to have good weather for the Lower School visit to this local environmental centre. Many of the children went to see the wind turbine and collected specimens to bring back to school for Art projects. The children from year 2 looked closely at different trees and each child photographed one species for a display.
After a huge picnic, it was lovely to see the older children helping the smaller ones on the play area.

Well done boys and girls. A lovely assembly today about all the people living and working around us. We loved hearing about your ambitions for the future ……………Do we have future astronauts and prime ministers in our midst ?  Well done Mrs Collins for putting it all together. We all loved the new song too.
