NSPCC Sponsored Skip

Posted by Leicesterprep on 27th March 2012

What a lovely day we had for our charity skip!  The sun was shining, the children were in shirt sleeves (and so were the staff!) as we began our money raising effort.

As each child came up to skip for 1 minute there was some enthusiastic counting by the rest of the pupils and some real encouragement for those who found it a bit more difficult!  Everybody’s score of skips in a minute was logged ready for them to take home a certificate and collect their money!

Please try to return as much of the promised money as possible by Friday so that it can be sent to the NSPCC as soon as possible.

Congratulations to all the children for taking part so well and being so supportive of each other.  Well done all of you!

Here we are again!

Posted by Leicesterprep on 11th February 2012

Problems have been fixed and our blog is up and running again.

Just a reminder of information from the newsletter , please look out any suitable, unwanted books for our second book swap to coincide with World Book Day.  Upper School children have a poem to learn ready for our Poetry Competition - details to follow.

As the weather will hopefully be warming up now, swimming lessons will resume on Thursdays immediately after half term.

We hope you have a good break and enjoy your half term.

Father Christmas visit

Posted by Leicesterprep on 14th December 2011

Great excitement yesterday as Father Christmas took time out of his very busy schedule to come and visit us.  He must have parked his sleigh round the corner because there was no sign of it outside the school although we looked and looked.  He found a comfy chair near the Christmas tree in the hall and every child got a present.  Thank you Father Christmas for taking the time to come to visit us!

Christmas Fayre

Posted by Leicesterprep on 13th December 2011

Well done Year 5 and 6 for all the great games you thought up for the younger pupils to play. You managed to raise £80. The School Council will decide with Mrs Radulovic what we will spend it on.

Why is THIS here?

Posted by Leicesterprep on 2nd December 2011

Have you ever wondered what all those strange lumps and bumps are on the walls that have been painted over?  Well, ask someone in Form 3.  David wanted to know what the strange lump on the wall was that he could see when he was sharpening his pencil near the door.   Mrs Radulovic explained that it was a bell push to call a servant to the room.  Then we needed to find out about why there were servants and what they did . . .   and then we needed to find out what the rooms were originally used for so we all went down to the Library and had a good look at the original plans on display there.

We looked at our classroom and discovered that it was originally a bedroom and we discovered that Mrs Hitchcock was really teaching in the kitchen!  We found that the office and Mr Cann’s office were once one room and we realised that the girl’s changing rooms were really store rooms for linen. We looked at where the fireplaces are and set off to find some of them.  You will be glad to know they are all still there!

Once we got started we found things everywhere!  What can you find?
